Hello builders,

This week, China said it wants to “referee” the global AI race.

If that didn’t make you blink, then maybe this will 👇

Four people (all pilots) are building AI to manage air traffic, and they’re hiring…

Soon, we’ll be flying across the country in a jet with no pilot, a humanoid robot crew trained on some custom RL model built by someone named Greg.

The future’s getting weird.

Honestly? I’m into it.

In this week’s newsletter.

  • New Startup Spotlight: Enhanced Radar AI startup is straight out of a movie

  • AI News Recap: China’s playing AI referee, Samsung’s backing long-context memory tech, and robots are getting a physics engine.

  • Recent Job Postings: A CI platform powered by gaming CPUs, Sequence’s backend billing team, and a full-stack role automating IT workflows.

Let’s go.

Engineer spots left this month

Each month, I work with a curated group of cracked 0→1 engineers. The kind founders want to hire or co-found with.

As of this issue, only 4 spots remain.

If you’re building something on the side, bored at Big Tech, or just too good to be cold applying, this is your sign.

🔍 Startup Spotlight

Enhanced Radar

Enhanced Radar is building AI for air traffic control.

Yeah, you read that right.

Their system trains custom transcript, vision, and language models — all backed by their own radio hardware, fully self-managed data stack, and live deployments monitoring airspace in the real world.

You’ll be joining the team at the ground floor, (they’re all licensed pilots), who are also behind Y2, aviation's state-of-the-art speech recognition model.

If you’ve ever wanted to work on a system where the stakes are sky-high (literally), this is one of the most ambitious founding roles in AI right now.

TL;DR

Building AI-native air traffic control infrastructure from scratch

— Team of pilots shipping models, radio hardware, and full-stack infra

— 6 days/wk on-site in SF (~70 hrs)

— $5.5M raised | Stack: C, Rust, Go

— Equity = Up to 3%

Megan’s Take

This isn’t your average AI job, but it’s the kind of company that rewires your career arc. If you’re a systems thinker with a pilot’s brain (or just the mindset), I’d put this one at the top of your list.

📱Samsung Backs Memories.ai’s Seed Round

Memories AI uses long-context video understanding, and has secured an $8M seed round led by Susa Ventures with support from Samsung Next. The startup aims to analyze hours of footage while prioritizing on-device privacy.

🧠 Genesis AI $105M Seed to Build Robot Models

Genesis aims to develop foundational models for robot intelligence using simulated physics data, debuted from stealth with a massive $105M seed led by Eclipse and Khosla Ventures.

Megan’s Take

This week’s news yet again sees China pushing for global AI governance. As well as that, we have stealth startups pulling 9-figure seed rounds. The power dynamic in AI is consolidating fast — and not always where you expect.

Question:

Can I afford to be picky in the current job market?

Answer:

Yes, especially now. It tells me you know what you want, and that’s a good thing.

Being picky doesn’t mean waiting forever. When hiring slows, the signal-to-noise ratio gets worse. The best roles go to people who are dialed in and exercise a little bit of patience.
